"An idea that is not dangerous is unworthy of being called an idea at all."
May 28th, 2009 @ 6:24 pmBROTHERS BLOOM This week I was lucky enough to see one of my favorite writer/directors speak after a showing of his latest film, The Brothers Bloom. Rian Johnson’s previous and debut film, Brick, was an excellent example of how to subvert genre conventions and create a unique world for his characters. Bloom is no different. It was particularly interesting to hear Rian talk about his philosophy on con man movies and how he choose to focus on characters rather than contrived plot twists “where someone always ends up on a beach with a suitcase full of money.” Don’t get me wrong, his latest feature is full of surprises. Go see it now. blog comments powered by Disqus« Older · Home · Newer » |
